Background
Hong Kong Christian Service (HKCS) is a prominent organisation dedicated to providing professional and quality services to disadvantaged communities. Established with a vision of fostering a benevolent and just society, HKCS aims to instil hope, advocate for justice, and promote social harmony. The organisation’s core mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families by addressing their diverse needs through various social services.
The recently commissioned booklet design reflects HKCS’s commitment to promotion and engagement. This book "Broadening Career Support Services Practical Collection" serves as an important tool for schools and organisations to use to share the interviewees' experiences and insights on life planning. By communicating its mission and services, HKCS aims to connect with potential volunteers, donors and community members to raise awareness of the importance of support services for youth and educational institutions.
Design Solution
The design of the HKCS booklet is crafted to resonate with its target audience, employing a vibrant and youthful aesthetic. Central to the design is the use of the CLAP@JC signature brand colours— orange and blue —creating a cohesive visual identity that is instantly recognisable. These colours not only reflect HKCS's energetic spirit but also enhance the overall appeal of the publication.
The illustration style adopted for the booklet is simple and cartoon-like, which contributes to a young and vibrant atmosphere. This choice of style is intentional, aiming to engage a wider audience, particularly the youth and school. The playful illustrations depict various social scenarios and initiatives, making complex information more accessible and relatable.
To add depth and interest to the design, several lines and diagonal elements are integrated throughout the booklet. These design features serve to guide the reader's eye, creating a dynamic flow while also emphasising key information. The use of lines not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also helps to organise content effectively, ensuring that the reader can navigate the booklet with ease.
